Pick the Hole 

The PGA Championship Pick the Hole Location Challenge Hosted by Jack Nicklaus received an astonishing 92,000 votes from golf fans, backed by strong PR and social media campaigns that reached tens of millions of consumers. From a purely PR standpoint, MC supported the campaign by disseminating book-end press announcements, one announcing the promotion and one announcing the winning hole and votes total.


As part of this initiative, MC arranged several National radio interviews for Kerry Haigh, Managing Director of Championships, where he discussed the significance of the news, while educating the mass consumer audience of the importance of course set up for a major championship.  


The PR/social media campaign generated more than 730 million media impressions worldwide, valued at nearly $2 million. This campaign generated coverage on all platforms (digital, print, TV and radio), consumer and trade, with feature stories via the following media outlets: The Associated Press, Reuters, Bloomberg, CNN, Yahoo, BusinessWeek, Los Angeles Times, ESPN, New York Times, NBC Sports and CBS Sports, among others.


The highly successful campaign received the distinguished Platinum Award as part of the prestigious MARCOM Awards, honoring excellence in marketing and communications, and an honorable mention from PR Daily's 2013 Media Relations Awards.
